Day 18-Custer, South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore

Day 18: Custer, South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore

Hey y'all! The Happy's are back, and we have a recap of today for you all!

We got to sleep in this morning to the very generous time of 7 AM! We woke up and packed up like the pros we are, and left Ponderosa Campground by 8 AM.

Our breakfast this morning was Emmie's favorite, but deemed "overrated" by Ella A...... Yogurt and granola! We were treated to strawberry, peach, and strawberry-banana yogurt, plus the cutest cuties around!

We drove through the gorgeous Wyoming countryside to Walmart, our next stop.

Lots of sleep was caught up on during the bus ride to the best gas station, rumored to be better than Buc-ee's. They put the gas in the gas station: Common Cents! We treated ourselves to the froyo, chicken tenders, pizza, breakfast burritos, brisket sandwiches, smoothies, and all sorts of sodas and drinks. Then we loaded back up, and off we went!

After heading to South Dakota, we arrived at Custer Park around 3:45 PM. We had a quick meeting before practicing for our next dance competition in our groups. Then, the cooks got to work, while the rest of us chilled in the park. There were frisbee, football, volleyball, hacky sack, reading, letter writing, coloring, and walking.
Logan killed it with his research on Custer, South Dakota.

HUNGER GAMES!! Who can balance on one foot the longest??

Our dinner was another 10/10, best dinner yet; featuring chicken and cheese or cheese quesadillas, rice, beans, and a powdered donut with fruit punch.

Following our gourmet meal, we left the park around 6:15 to go to Mt. Rushmore! A pretty drive and 45 minutes later, we arrived. We loved Mt. Rushmore, although some thought it was a little small. It was an awesome sight, and even better was the ice cream and gift store!

Prairie Strawberry, Chocolate, Bunny Tracks, Cookies and Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip, and the FAMOUS Thomas Jefferson Vanilla were had, among some other flavors! Everyone said it was delicious.

Finally, after meeting some FFA friends from South Dakota, we headed back to our campsite tonight, the YMCA of Custer! We got back after a bus rave followed by "quiet hours music" (put on by Dallas), and had another quick meeting. We started doing our jobs (like we're doing now, typing this!) and setting up, getting showers, and playing games of basketball and hacky sack. We'll talk to you tomorrow!!
