Day 17- Cody, Wyoming

Day 17: Cody, Wyoming

Hello guys! We're the HAPPY'S! (Ella, Karmen, Holden, Karson-Faith, Gray, Audrey, Grant, Bella, Maggie, Eli, Jay, Murphy, Emmie, Scarlet)

Today we woke up at 6:30 for whitewater rafting and got ready for the bus to pick us up at 7! It was super cold and super windy, but we loaded up and headed over, with some nerves and some excitement.

We arrived, split into our groups, and loaded the rafts to set sail (almost) down the Shoshone River. We tackled the rapids and had such an amazing time; we ended almost not as cold as we started.

We are missing photos of Cabin Six, The Paddle-wans, and The Glittering Beaver Sharks.

We stayed super cold, disgusting, and gross on the bus ride back, and were greeted with a great breakfast courtesy of Dallas and Grant, including eggs, sausage, grits, and toast (just bread). It warmed us up and gave us energy in preparation for laundry, showers, jobs, and catching up.

We split up and started doing our laundry, which was great since our bags were getting stinky from all the dirty socks and wet clothes. After being dropped off, we stayed and hung out for around 2 hours, enjoying some great bonding, washing, and folding. People enjoyed gas station coffee and hot chocolate before packing in vans like sardines back to camp.

At camp, there was hustle and bustle; we enjoyed calling and updating our parents on our adventures since we called last, and showered in some amazing showers- getting warm and clean before the rodeo later.

We also enjoyed walking to Dairy Queen next door and giving them tons of business, and visiting downtown Cody. We came back with boots, hats, clothes, and more souvenirs. Boone spent a lot, I hear, and the shops know him by name. He found something new every time he walked in the store.

We met back at 4:45 for a yummy dinner of chicken nuggets, macaroni, and green beans. The cooks did an amazing job. 10/10 gourmet meal. We finished off with cookies.

Our cooks, cooking it up!

Pre-Rodeo Munchies

We finished up dinner and left to go back downtown as a whole group, where most of us bought hats if we hadn't already, and some of us also met new friends, the owners of the Miami Heat. Lots of friendly conversation was made as they enjoyed Cody. At 7:15, we loaded back on the bus and vans and headed to the RODEO!

Where did he get this lasso?

At the rodeo, we stepped off the bus to a gust of wind that never stopped. Lots of hats were lost, but we made the best of it by cheering loud and proud for the South Side of the arena. Snacks were had, and pictures were taken, and we enjoyed the talent and skill of all the participants. We even got to watch our very own Berkley compete in a dance-off repping the "east and west" sides (the South Side, really), and she came back with a gold medal awarded to her by a cowboy himself. All of this was set against a beautiful backdrop of the Wyoming landscape and a sunset.

After returning to the Ponderosa Campground, some people hurried to get into warm clothes and showers, while others prioritized the cold ice cream and treats of DQ. Fun was had by all, and to wrap up, we're getting ready for bed (I think we're the last ones to go to bed, GOODNIGHT!!!!)
