Day 3: San Antonio and the Alamo
We woke this morning at 5AM to the sound of Dallas saying "wakey wakey eggs and bakey." After we got dressed and packed up, we walked outside to the beautiful sight of rain in hot Louisiana. We then loaded up and headed for Texas!
Sending postcards and letters to our friends and family at home!
Today was our longest travel day; many found eating, making friendship bracelets, and sleeping the best ways to pass the time. After many stops at the gas station, we made the ultimate switch from the East to the West Coast. The Miss America van had a very eventful time, finding teamwork the best way to get out of a very wet situation. In the middle of the downpour, the van had to accomplish a 300-point turn on a two-lane road with the trailer. The campers want to thank our amazing driver, Makenzi, for her bravery! We stopped at what used to be the biggest Buc-ee's in the world, in Katy, Texas! Many purchased brisket, blankets, and onesies.
Two hours later, we found ourselves in San Antonio, walking through The Alamo and Riverwalk. After touring, we were allowed free time, many got ice cream and shopped (sorry mom and dad for our bank accounts).
Our meals for the day consisted of Pop-Tarts for breakfast, ham and turkey sandwiches, and homemade pizza roll-ups for dinner. We made it to Schreiner University around 8pm. We finished our day by showering and trying to go to sleep by a decent time tonight! It was fun catching up with y'all, but sadly, it is our last night, Bashful's out!
Finished setting up on the pavilion.
